Monica and Mike originally were supposed to elope with us in Glacier National Park in Montana. Like many couples in 2020, they had to pivot their plans and do something a little different. Since they live in California, there are a ton of amazing spots to elope. So that definitely helped keep the driving distance reasonable.
They settled on Lake Tahoe, rented a cozy Airbnb, and we met them on their original date and they eloped! It was such a beautiful day and the Tahoe community was so helpful in helping us bring this together. Normally our elopement days don’t have this level of detail, but when you’re in Tahoe with some amazing vendors–it definitely helps make some magic happen!
We had an amazing sunrise ceremony, explored a few different lakes, and hiked up to an epic view over Emerald Bay (which we had to ourselves). This was a huge pivot for us since we’re more familiar with northern states, but we came early to scout some special spots, helped everyone navigate around a road closure, and had a kickass time exploring Tahoe.
Even though they eloped, they read letters, hopped on phone calls with friends, and even used an app on their phone to get their cat to come to the camera to say hello to us. After their elopement, they spent the next week really exploring Tahoe to the fullest and getting out on the lake. We always recommend staying in the area where you eloped to explore. It adds to the memories and makes it a place you’ll want to come back and visit for years to come.
Thanks Monica, Mike, and the Tahoe Community for rolling with the changes and making this day so magical.
