Ellen and Jordan flew out from Texas to elope with us in Olympic National Park. After having to postpone due to COVID, they were 100% ready to finally celebrate and exchange their vows. In chatting with them about what mattered most when it came to exploring the PNW, it was all about the trees! So we made sure to plan their day around exploring the rainforest here on the Olympic Peninsula. While there are more “famous” rainforests like the Hoh Rainforest–the bulk of our landscape out here is…well, rainforest. So we took them to a hidden spot tucked away from the crowds and they exchanged their vows among the trees. We have a few unique rainforest locations since we live just 20-30 minutes from rainforest hikes and explore them all the time!
You can see through the photos just how sweet (and silly) they were to each other. It was so adorable to witness and capture how they interacted. Our cheeks were actually hurting from smiling and laughing so much. We had all day to explore together with just a few simple locations we had in mind. So it was really easy to slow down, be intentional, and take in all of the sights and sounds. It might feel strange in the planning process to keep things simple. But trust us, having that extra time is what helps you stay relaxed and in the moment.
Ellen and Jordan opted for a packed sandwich lunch underneath the roof awning on their rental camper van. We found a quiet picnic area next to Lake Crescent, and we ate lunch (and Jordan had a few IPAs from Seattle). Eloping is all about deciding what details matter and don’t matter to you. So if you want to skip the fancy food–go for it! It’s all about having the experience that makes you happy!
After lunch, we checked the weather and decided to move up our evening plans. So we drove out to Ruby Beach to explore the rugged PNW coast. It’s always such a different coastal experience than anywhere else (even Oregon). So we’re always excited to explore, and if we go at low tide, we can even check out the tide pools! After a quick creek crossing, we frolicked about on the beach exploring the huge rock formations! It was such a magical day and we were honored to be a part of it!
