Jackson Hole Winter Elopement

Madison and Austin decided to elope in Jackson Hole (in Grand Teton National Park) where they could come snowboard, and you know, get married! I absolutely love winter elopements in the Rockies. Most couples who elope in the winter want to come out and enjoy our amazing ski resorts and make a whole wonderful trip out of it. These two were so excited to get out here and enjoy these mountains!

We met at one of my favorite winter overlooks that has a sweeping view of the Teton Range. It was a great place for Madison and Austin to have their first look together and enjoy the views! I absolutely loved how giggly they were together and I could just tell how much fun the rest of the evening would be celebrating! We then went to one of my favorite elopement hikes to a beautiful lake with stunning views of Grand Teton. You can see what a Summer Grand Teton Elopement looks like at this spot too!

Madison and Austin brought one of their closest friends to be their officiant. It was so sweet and he was honored to tag along! Even if it was his first-time officiant (he did an amazing job by the way). They also brought photos of their dog to reflect on all their memories together before the ceremony, as well as letters from their parents (Madison surprised Austin with this). I think it’s always so sweet and emotional when couples take the time to reflect back on their journey together. Especially if that involves a doggy, family, or friends that can’t be there for your day.

After their ceremony, they had their first dance. Which is a lot more difficult in snow that’s not packed down! But it was a beautiful first dance with the two of them having a moment alone to enjoy the remaining alpenglow on the mountains around us. Seeing that the sun was about to set, we started hiking back to the trailhead. They needed to get ready for snowboarding again tomorrow! We even saw a fox along the trail on the way back!

I had so much fun getting to know Madison and Austin on their elopement. This was such a special day. I am always honored to get to share this experience (and my favorite trails) with my couples. I hope to see them again in the San Juans of Colorado (where I live) for another winter trip someday!
