How to Use Your Polaroids

April 18, 2024

While my job is to take photos of your wedding day, I believe it’s also my job to help you remember the details and emotions of your day for years to come. This day becomes even more meaningful as the years go on, so that’s why I take these extra steps to help you remember everything.

Before I go any further about Polaroids: I want to remind you to do the final date night card I gave you about doing a selfie video + writing down your thoughts in your vow book. That’s such a precious gift to your future selves. I’ve had couples tell me they cried watching their selfie video on their anniversary. It’s such an easy thing to forget with all the traveling + celebrating, so I thought I’d remind you!

About Your Polaroids

I absolutely love giving you something tangible and nostalgic to hold onto from your elopement/wedding day. So I really hope those photos bring you joy! There’s something about polaroids that make it feel like it’s captured something deeper and more emotional about a moment. On that note, one of the most asked questions I get about it is:

Where can I get a Polaroid camera like yours?

Taking Polaroid photos like you did can become a really special way to document your marriage and where your journey goes from here. This helps you slow down, step away from your phone and any distractions, and be present in the moment together. These days, we can scroll through countless photos on Instagram/Tiktok. What if we slowed down for a moment and just looked through a handful of meaningful photos in our hands?

Now I want to share some ideas on how you can display them!

1. Scan Them

If you want to keep a digital version of your Polaroids, scanning them is the way to go. This way, you can store them on your computer or phone and easily share them with friends and family.

2. Write the date

You can easily write the date on the white border with a Sharpie. This will help you remember when the photo was taken and add a personal touch to the print.

  • Ultrafine Sharpie is my favorite way to write on my Polaroids

3. Put them on your fridge

Use magnets to display your Polaroids on your fridge or any other magnetic surface. You can even use a magnet you got on your travels to add an extra touch of nostalgia.

4. Frame or tape them to your wall

If you want to display your Polaroids more prominently, you can frame them or use washi tape to attach them to your wall. This is a great way to create a gallery wall with all your favorite shots.

5. Use a photo album (my favorite)

Get a photo album specifically designed for Polaroids or thrift one. This way, you can store and organize your prints while still being able to flip through them easily.

6. Put one in your vow book

Consider putting one of your Polaroids in your vow book. This is a sweet way to remember your special day and the promises you made to each other.

7. Make a scrapbook

If you’re feeling creative, make a scrapbook with your Polaroids. You can add stickers, washi tape, and other embellishments to make it even more special. Or even pieces from your bouquet, dress, pocket square – pretty much any small thing from your day!

8. Pin them up at work

Bring a bit of personality to your workspace by pinning up one of your favorite Polaroids or putting it in a frame for your desk.

9. String them up on your wall

Attach your Polaroids to a string with tiny clips and hang them up on your wall. This is a cute and simple way to create a photo display that can easily be changed up.

10. Add them to your bookshelf

If you have a bookshelf, consider adding your Polaroids to the mix. This is a great way to add some personality to your shelves.

11. Use them as bookmarks

Got any silly mishap Polaroids you might have accidentally taken? Use them as bookmarks and they’ll make you laugh every time you use them.

12. Store them in a box

This way you can keep them all together and bust them out when you want to share with friends! I have mine on my fridge and all of my extra ones I keep in a wooden box on my coffee table.

There you have it – some fun and creative ways to display your Polaroids. No matter how you choose to display them, these instant prints are sure to bring a smile to your face and remind you of all the memories you’ve created.

Feel free to send me photos of how you display yours! I’d love to see them!! And potentially add it to this blog post!
